Space Utilisation
Floor space is generally the most expensive outlay for an organization after personnel costs. The topology of offices is constantly adapting, responding to changes in business and activity requirements as well as accommodating the needs of process and knowledge workers who whilst requiring different facilities must co-exist for the organization to function fully.
The efficient use of space has therefore become a key concern for an organization and an area that requires a clear understanding of an organizations needs related to the physical parameters of the space available and the furniture and equipment to be used.
Space planning and utilization is a part of the design process and ensures the optimum use of space, the design will obviously work on day one but must also allow for day two changes and should be robust enough to allow for constant evolution and change.
